It is Digital but I do not have an HD box and I’m not getting one either. I have been reviewing the Sony KDL M4000 and the Samsung 450. Thing is that I’m not sure if these Tv’s handle standard def viewing well because the show rooms have them set to an HD channel feed. Anyone know about this?

HD tvs do not display SD tv well. If you want to stay with SD tv for a while you would be much better off going to craigslist.org and getting a used crt tv. There are many available used as everyone is getting HD tvs. Also your cable provider may not even charge you any more for an HD cable box than you are paying now, so check that out also, maybe you can get HD for the same price.
You can pick up HD channels for free tho, if you use an antenna and are close enuf to the broadcast towers. Just network HD, but as long as the tv you get has an internal tuner, you can get free network HD and more will be available after the feb 09 transition to all digital.
