The Value of LCD TVs
Aside from their obvious aesthetic value, LCD TVs are much more practical in the home than CRT (tube-style) televisions. They take up a smaller footprint, and thus use up less floor space in the room. Also, LCD TVs are lighter and easier to move around when cleaning or redecorating. The 32LV67 is only 4.65 inches deep and weighs less than 37 pounds. Best of all, LCD screens use less power than CRTs and plasma screens.

Full-Featured DVD Player
The 32LV67 includes an integrated, slot-loading DVD player. It has upconverting technology that improves the standard picture definition of regular DVDs to match the 1366 x 768 (720p HDTV) display resolution of the 32LV67.

Connections
The set has a built-in digital television tuner, so out of the box it can receive digital broadcast ATSC signals and QAM signals used by most digital cable providers. It also has a built-in 181-channel NTSC tuner, so it can also accept traditional analog signals. It is also capable of these connections:

Audio
The SoundStrip speaker system hides the unit's speakers in a thin strip bordering the screen. They're powerful enough to deliver big stereo sound, but they don't add significantly to the size of the set.

Toshiba's StableSound feature maintains television volume within a preset range regardless of the source signal. This is an extremely useful feature when transitioning between a quiet television program and a very loud commercial advertisement or when changing channels.

SRS WOW, a combination of SRS 3D, TruBass, and Focus sound-expanding systems, create a 3-D sound field with improved bass response over standard TV audio and create directed, three-dimensional audio sweet spot for maximum enjoyment. The cabinet includes stereo speakers, but the TV also has optical digital output for connecting to your audio system.

Other Features
Channel browser shows you thumb-nail images of the last five channels you've watched at the touch of a button. You can also see previews of your preset Favorite Channels along the bottom of the screen.

unit came via shipping service and was delivered for signature which is reassuring for items like this. Unpacked it and set it up and it was great! Good picture and sound, the built in DVD was nice. Mounted it on the wall in the exercise room and now I am getting more exercise than ever

Needed a decent compact tv for a small apartment I keep in the city for work. This 32" weighes under 40 lbs., has amazing picture and sound, and with a built in progressive scan DVD requires, only one plug in, sits compactly on a standard end table, and works with only one remote (and no extra cables except cable in). It sure exceeded my expectations. -- And for the girlies out there, it's kind of pretty. (Only downside: no swivel or tilt.)

I bought this due to its high rating from Consumer Reports. I am not disappointed one bit. The set is attractive (black frame) and the HD picture quality is superb. The only drawback is the built-in DVD player which is not HDDVD or Blue Ray capabable. As more and more disks come out in HD, I will likely be forced to purchase another DVD player to view them in HD.

It's A Keeper

Pros: Built in QAM HD receiver works great with COMCAST. Good control of picture and sound preferences. Excellent sharpness and color. Good sound without use of external speakers. Great value.

Con#1: Less than stellar fast motion and camera pan viewing for sports. This is a common LCD complaint but Toshiba does advertise "CineSpeed" which is supposed to address this. With a 8ms response time, I expected some motion blur. For me it's acceptable but you might want to check one out in a store first.

Con#2: Doesn't render analog, over the air channels well but not many of these digital sets do. This will be a moot point in 2009 as analog goes away.

Summary: For the money you can't go wrong if you're in the market for a smaller LCD set. We find the built in DVD player handy and it reads scratched rental disks very well. You can get the same set without the player for about $60 less.

One Last Thing: On Amazon shipping - make sure you give the carrier your cell phone number, or a number you are always at, as the primary contact number. They must make contact with you by phone before they will deliver. If they can't reach you, they don't deliver.

Inexpensive quality LCD HDTV with DVD Player

Pros: Great high contrast screen, built in DVD player, built in speakers, side audio/video in ports, 3 HDMI ports, computer port. And finally, price.... oh.. and yes, it actually has a ATSC Tuner!!

Cons: Menus aren't too intuitive... sometimes tries to be too simple, other times it too difficult. Some settings are not remembered, you have to set them over and over and over and over... Unit came with an immediate flash upgrade (flash card included), wasn't expecting that. DVD is not Bluray or HD-DVD. No PIP... which is typical nowadays, just seems a shame to waste all of those inputs.

This is an excellent HDTV for the price. Having the built in DVD is a plus BUT it is not a HD DVD unit... just a normal DVD. This unit is going into my daughter's upstairs den. Highly recommended. I tested against LG, Samsung, Phillips and Westinghouse. The Toshiba picture was a good as the best from the others and had the additional features.

Some self-install tips to keep in mind

For those who aren't aware, and I was one of them, this TV does not come ready to view right out of the box. The TV is terrific, with a great HD picture, vibrant colors, and looks better than my main 65" Mitsubishi HD TV in the family room.

This one was picked to replace the bedroom model and so far, it's proven to be the right choice in terms of quality and value. I'm a Directv customer, so what I have to say about self-installing might prove helpful to others considering the task ahead.

Once the TV arrived, I hooked it up directly to the satellite-in port using the coax cable connection coming directly from the dish. Wrong choice and no picture. Next, thinking the old conversion box would suffice, I went that route with the same results as before. Realize, that I already have a 5 LNB dish and a functional HD/DVR operational with my main viewing TV so I thought I was okay to add on to what was already in place.

Finally, I called Directv and learned that one has to get their special HD20 conversion box ($99) and pay an additional $20 processing fee. Fine, but in order to get a technician to come out, the wait would have been several days if not weeks because of the demand realized recently by Directv having added up to 70+ HD channels. It seems, many folks are wanting to convert and all at the same time.

So, I elect to self-install with Directv sending me 'everything I needed' to set up the new HD configuration. Not exactly. The Regza has 3 HDMI ports, which stands for High Definition Media Interface and are very similar to USB ports on your home computer. The HD conversion box from Directv also comes with a special small, lipstick sized filter, that must be attached to your main connection out of the wall and sandwiched between that and your TV's 'Satellite IN' coax port.

Directv does not include a HDMI cable to interface with your HD box and the TV which is the preferred way to go for maximum picture quality. I had to figure that one out on my own after several frustrating attempts to use the old red-yellow-white plug in cables to do the job. Next, it was off to Best Buy to buy the HDMI cable for $59 (6' long size), connect it to the named ports on the box and TV, then call Directv to have them walk me through the final stages of authorization, setting up the remote, providing them all the serial numbers on the box, and access card, before finally getting the on-screen prompts to complete the process.

You'll have to jump through some hoops but the end result is nothing short of spectacular! I haven't seen a quality picture similar to the Regza anywhere, including the various store models. Hopefully, this advisory will help you eliminate some of the angst I went through in getting the TV operational.

Excellent TV with plenty of options. We upgraded to HD cable shortly afterwards and we were immensely impressed by the increase in picture quality over our previous TV (27" CRT Sony Trinitron) with regular cable. Obviously the built-in DVD player isn't HD or Blu-ray... that would have driven the price up another $500 or so and the selection/price of HD DVDs and Blu-ray discs aren't yet worth the investment. However, the built-in DVD player is upconverting so you can upgrade your TV and DVD player all at once.

The only downside is the large amount of heat generated by the set. But, this is a small inconvenience in comparison to how much happier we are with the new TV. BUY IT!

5 Star Satisfaction

The Red Sox won the world Series and I watched every moment on my new Toshiba Regaza 32" HDLCD/DVD TV!

I am legally blind, but I can see a quality image. I am also in an electric chair with MS, but I didn't want to have to sit up close. I shopped online for about three months, read many, many reviews and narowed my choice to Toshiba. As the purchase date got closer, I called multiple vendors in the OKC metro area, shopping price and delivery/set-up options. Nothing avaiable could compete with the choices from Amazon.

As the Sox appeared to be going to the AlCS playoffs, I began to fear missing a game. My dad was "Babe Ruth's batboy and while I waited my whole life for the 2004 victory, I didn't think I'd live to see a second championship. Oklahoma is not Red Sox nation, but as a card carrying member, I was determined to participate fully.

When it bame clear that I would save hundreds of dollars by buying online, I took the plunge and called in the order to avoid many possible misunderstanding. I also elected to spend $12.00 more to buy direct from Amazon in order to get free delivery and assure a wrinkle free purchase in case I didn't think the value equaled the price. I think the Amazon tool of clicking "talk to a live person is great! I got a call-back in less than 60 seconds, twice! The TV was delivered free and unpacked by "White Glove FedEX" ahead of the promised date and only 5 days later! Because of being able to track the delivery online, I had scheduled my cable provider to come 2 hours after unpacking and the setup was completed at no additional cost.

I am so thrilled with the quality and service that I have decided to replace my bedroom TV with another Toshiba from Amazon.

I didn't expect the perks of 'stretch and 2 zoom levels" that HD service includes. What a great way to watch reruns of impossible catches! The investment in my Toshiba and monthly HD service has given me new options to participate in life. Thank you Amazon and Toshiba.

Revising Rating to 2 stars!!! Great TV, but after 7 months, I now have sound, but no picture!

I ordered this tv over Thanksgiving weekend. I had been researching LCD TV's for weeks, if not months, and finally bit the bullet and ordered this one before the prices went any higher (they had been fluctuating up and down - mostly up - at all retailers, not just Amazon!) and to take advantage of the free shipping. It was shipped promptly and delivered within about 10 days, despite the fact that it arrived in Chicago about 4 days after shipping. Delivery contractor for Eagle scheduled the appt. for 8-12 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2nd. They did not actually arrive until 2 p.m. - no call to explain the delay and no apology for the delay on arrival. They did offer to unpack it for me - apparently they just meant the tv so I could check it for damage and not the stand itself, because they left that enclosed in its styrofoam packaging. I was very lucky that all of the necessary screws were included correctly with the stand. Regardless, attaching the stand was a piece of cake (just remember that the 4 short screws are the ones you put into the back of the tv) and set-up involved plugging in the power and plugging in my digital cable box. Hit the power button and there was the clearest picture I had ever seen of a football game. Colors were bright, features were crisp and clear! The sound on this tv is excellent - you can actually hear sound moving from one side to the other! I am quite impressed. I am somewhat disappointed that I am unable to access my cable guide through the remote that came w/ this television, despite having tried all of the number combinations available. However, I can change channels and adjust the volume quite easily. Its Stable Sound feature is a God-send, as are the two levels of mute. Closed captioning has many options, including font size, type and color, and background color. The menu funtions are fairly simple for someone such as myself who has little technical know-how, but the menus are difficult to see and read - background is light and letters tend to blend in w/ the background, rather than stand out, and type is too small to be read easily. I will admit that I have extremely bad vision due to MS, so what is a problem for me may not be a problem for others. All of that aside, I am very satisfied and happy with this set and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quality set at a reasonable price.

6/15/08--My TV has worked very well. Had a great picture this afternoon and everything was great. Turned it on this evening, have plenty of sound, but no picture! Tried everything I could think of to resolve this issue with no luck. Have already sent an e-mail to Toshiba customer service. I am a little concerned, as I did read one review here that Toshiba failed to live up to its expectations from a warranty standpoint. As I LIVE by my television set, I would really hope that they will not jerk me around on this. Will keep you informed.

great picture and TV

I don't usually do reviews (thanks to those that do). Own a panasaonic 37 inch plasma which we were very happy with - have had it a couple of years. Wasn't expecting much of a difference between the Toshiba and Panasonic but WOW - cant believe the crispness and brightness of the Toshiba LCD. Maybe its the LCD v. plasma, maybe its the natural progression of technology getting better but it is a remarkable picture and integrated DVD is sweet feature as well. Wish it had a cable card slot, but thats all it really lacks. DO it . DO it.
