First of all…. a terms of reference:
SGD$: Singapore Dollars
USD$: US Dollars
conversion rate: USD$1 = SGD$1.47
My LCD monitor recently died and I intend to purchase a new one. I’ve decided to get a 26″ widescreen full HD monitor and I saw one at a shop where I live in Singapore. It was going for SGD$699.As I left the shop I saw that they were also selling a 32″ LCD TV for the same price! Its on offer obviously. Now I cant remember whether the 32″ TV was full HD or just HD ready.
My question is if since they are both LCD panels, wouldn’t getting the 32″ LCD TV to use as a monitor for my desktop be of better value than the 26″ LCD monitor at the same price? Is there a difference in quality between a full HD monitor and a full HD LCD TV?
Thanx in advance! :D

You’ll get a better resolution out of the 26″ LCD monitor @ 1920×1200 most likely, while only 1366 x 768 with the 32″ LCD TV. Obviously though, the 32″ LCD TV will give you a larger viewing area than the monitor. It’s completely up to you, but if you only plan on using the display with your computer, I would tell you to go with the 26″ monitor because of the larger desktop area you’ll have, as well as the capacity for full 1080p HD resolutions.

If you’re going to use as a monitor, you need to check the specifications of the graphics of your computer, make sure that the cable from the tv will fit properly in the i/o panel on the back of the computer. I think you need a tv tuner card for this. Do some research on the TV and the computer to see if they are compatible.
